Research published by the British Epilepsy Association found CBD oil effective for treating epilepsy in children. Additionally, Charlotte Figi, a very young girl, is among one of the most well-known cases of hemp-derived CBD oil successful in the treatment of seizures. According to CNN, Charlotte had her first seizure when she was just three months old. Her seizures progressively got worse with age. By the time she was two years old, she was having as many as 300 grand mal seizures in one week. It had gotten to a point where she could no longer walk, talk, or eat.
Shortly after Charlotte began taking CBD, her seizures reduced drastically. She was finally able to walk, talk, and eat again.
The American Family Physician found that up to half of all children will experience problems sleeping at some point in their childhood, although only 4% have a formal diagnosis. Research conducted in Colorado found that CBD oil was effective in treating children who suffered from insomnia, even in the case of the condition being comorbid with anxiety or PTSD.
ADD & ADHD
The Attention Deficit Disorder Resource center reports that ADHD is present in 6.4 million children in America. The disorder is on the rise, with a 42% increase in diagnosis over the last eight years. A qualitative analysis found that 25% of individuals reported CBD effective in helping manage their symptoms of ADHD. A report published in the European Neuropsychopharmacology also found evidence supporting the conclusion that CBD could pose as a successful treatment for ADD and ADHD. Although more research on the endocannabinoid system is needed, it is worth giving it a try.
