Why CBD Is So Effective

Why CBD Works

CBD oil has an incredibly long list of possible applications and can be used in a wide variety of forms. In addition to being inhaled through a vaporizer, CBD oil can be applied topically or ingested orally. Topical applications include salves, creams, and beauty products. Oral products include tinctures and pills or capsules.

People have claimed this miracle oil to cure or treat hundreds of different diseases, ailments, disorders, and discomforts. In fact, it is often cited as the closest thing currently had to a cure for cancer, although researchers are still trying to determine whether this claim is 100% accurate.

What has been proven, however, is that the use of CBD oil in patients with Fibromyalgia, Crohn’s Disease, anxiety, and a number of other ailments promotes highly beneficial results. A recent survey was conducted and published by Forbes Magazine that states almost half of those who switch to CBD oil cease taking modern medications completely.

But why does it work so well where modern medications fall short?

Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system – or ECS for short – is a system found within all animals. This obvious includes humans, but also others like dogs or cats. When CBD oil is ingested it activates this miraculous system, which is involved in the majority of major body functions. Hemp plants are the only in the world who are known to activate this system, and some scientists believe that a deficiency in the ECS could be the cause of some mysterious disorders (like Fibromyalgia).

In addition to helping improve cognitive, memory, and relaxation functioning, the ECS works closely with the cardiovascular, digestive, and immune systems. It also responsible for initiating an anti-inflammatory response.

CB1 & CB2 Receptors

To promote these highly beneficial responses, CBD oil antagonizes two different receptors known as CB1 and CB2.

CB1 is the most prominent, being found in most places around the body. This includes the brain, heart, and lungs. CB2 receptors are found almost exclusively within the immune system.

These receptors allow for a two-way response unique to them and the ECS. Instead of only receiving information from the brain, these receptors also send back signals much in the same way a conversation happens. Some scientists believe this is the reason the ECS is so powerful.

CBD Is Not Psychoactive

Contrary to widespread belief, CBD is not psychoactive – meaning it does not produce the mind-altering side effects consistent with being “high.” Those symptoms occur due to THC, which is the other naturally occurring compound found in hemp or marijuana plants. This means that with CBD use there are no munchies, cotton mouth, anxiety, euphoria, or any other symptoms – just a generally better state of wellbeing.

Who Is A Good Candidate For CBD?

Most people are able to take CBD supplements without any issue. It has even been used in very young children to stop seizures in epileptics or to help manage the symptoms of childhood cancers.

The only individuals who may not be able to take CBD oil are those who have experienced an allergic reaction when smoking hemp or marijuana. Although people are not allergic to CBD, some commercial companies include THC in their products – which is what people have a reaction to.

Tips for Purchasing

While CBD oil is highly beneficial, purchasers must be careful that they purchase only high-quality, organic oil sourced exclusively from US hemp plants. This is because the US regulates their hemp production, ensuring there is no contamination or additives present. Other countries do not enforce such strict regulations.

One great company to purchase from is TerraVida, who offers a wide range of CBD products created from hemp plants grown exclusively in the area surrounding Boulder, Colorado.
